Bancroft Betterment Coffee
The Bancroft Betterment Corporation, chaired by Blaine Bockelman, met for its monthly coffee and business session at the Country Pub. It was hosted by the First National Bank.
Superintendent Jon Cerny gave a report on the availability of the money for the reading program. He said the preschool has 8 and 12 students attending and is going well. He also reported on the upcoming Sub-district basketball games.
Jennifer Carlson reported on the Blood Mobile's return the end of March with hopes of more donations. The Goodwill Truck had good donations. Jennifer will be attending the Midwinter Conference of the League of Nebraska Municipalities. She reported the league worked hard for the municipalities. Bancroft received a grant for the trail. There may be additional grant money available. A $5000 grant has been received for improvements at the City Park.
There is a deadline for purchasing property. The object is retired people and other homes in the village. The Betterment group agreed to help the Taskforce with the project.
Nancy Gillis reported they are half way on the funds for the sculpture project. Librarian Ruthann Bargmann reported that regular Story Hour will be held on the second Tuesday of every month and regular board meeting times on the last Monday of each month.
Spring Clean Up Day will be in the 1st part of May. The new church sign is finished thanks to those involved such as the David Raasch Families, the Michael Hermelbracht Families and others.
Kent Neumann won the regional Award for 11 states for Outstanding Coordinator at Nebraska State RC&D Association. Laurie Brokaw has been nominated as site manager of the year. Jennifer Carlson has been nominated for Clerk of the Year by the Village board. Jeremy Anderson of B-R School won an essay contest on Why He Chooses to be Drug and Alcohol Free.
Corky Wiig reported on the 100+ people at the last Music Jam. Greg Strehie stated that West Point will be hosting a Power Drive competition on April 1st at the Cuming County Fairgrounds. Bancroft-Rosalie has participated in the Power Drive program for the past five years.
The next coffee will be held Wednesday Morning March 8th hosted by Genevieve Hermelbracht and Majorie Vogt. Lets have a super attendance.
